Williams Mullen has an exciting opportunity for a highly qualified attorney to join the firm’s Richmond or Norfolk, Virginia Tax Credit Financing Practice Group, which focuses on representing developers, lenders and investors in the affordable housing and historic rehabilitation arena, analyzing both real estate and tax credit due diligence, specializing in LIHTC and historic rehabilitation transactions on behalf of developer and tax credit investor clients as well as commercial real estate lending for tax credit projects.
The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years’ experience representing clients on real estate and tax related matters and/or tax credit transactions preferably in a large firm. The majority of the tax work is focused on the representation of clients who develop affordable housing and historic rehabilitation projects using tax credits under Sections 42 and 47of the Internal Revenue Code. Additionally, providing tax expertise on construction and permanent financing, tax-exempt bonds, HOME loans, CDBG funds, HUD and AHP grants or loans and others. Candidates must have an interest in this type of work but experience with Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) transactions, HUD, bonds etc. is a plus but not mandatory. Excellent writing and analytical skills, high attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure with multiple deadlines are required. Bar Admission in Virginia required.
