Job Description

The Cleveland office of Squire Patton Boggs is hiring a full-time Associate for the Labor and Employment practice. The individual hired for this position will support and work directly with partners and other experienced lawyers handling all areas of employment law in the private and public sector including EEO and ERISA matters. The desired candidate should also have employment litigation experience, defending employers and insurers in all forms of employment discrimination, retaliation, whistleblower claims and wrongful discharge cases. Other areas of experience include workplace intentional tort, benefit litigation, enforcement and defense of confidentiality agreements, covenants not to compete and trade secret agreements.

Academic and Professional Qualifications

Possess J.D. from an accredited law school and a strong academic record. Preference given to the top 20% of graduating class

Must be in good standing and admitted to practice in a US State Bar. Admission to the State Bar of Ohio is expected if not currently admitted

Minimum three years’ experience in employment litigation, labor relations and/or collective bargaining

Experience in advocacy practice before EEOC and IC and local and federal courts

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Knowledge of relevant state and federal laws and regulations in both the private and public sector

Knowledge of collective bargaining and labor contract administration

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Superior organizational skills
