Harris Beach PLLC/Buffalo NY, Rochester NY

Seeking an associate to assist attorneys and clients with estate planning and trusts, including Medicaid planning and Medicaid applications. This position will begin as a split between the Buffalo office (three days/week) and the Pittsford office (two days/week), with the intention of the position transitioning into full-time at either office.

Responsibilities:

Research issues related to Medicaid, SSI, and other trusts and estates issues
Advise clients regarding establishment of trusts and ongoing administration
Draft pleadings related to Article 81 guardianship proceedings
Handle probate files
Assist in resolving litigated trust and estate matters
Draft trusts, petitions and guardianship/adoption documents
Conduct will signings and appearances/meetings related to adoptions
Appear at guardianship hearings
Represent clients in Surrogate's and Supreme Court

Qualifications:

1-3 years or more of trusts and estates experience
Admission to the New York bar required
Must have excellent research and writing skills
Must have excellent verbal communication and client service skills
Must be able to function effectively in a fast-paced, team oriented environment
Military experience a plus
