Position Description:
The Electronic Discovery Counsel leads the Firm electronic discovery function and provides expert advisement and consultation.
In this capacity, the Electronic Discovery Counsel will:
• Oversee the electronic discovery function for the Firm as the recognized subject matter expert;
• Advise the Firm and clients on the latest developments in discovery rules, case law and legal technologies;
• Counsel the Firm and its clients on the preeminent methods to identify, preserve, collect, process, review and produce electronically stored information;
• Develop and implement discovery strategies, best practices, procedure templates and defensible solutions in collaboration with legal practice areas, IT, Practices Support and other internal groups;
• Work beyond scheduled hours as necessary and travel as required; and
• Handle additional related projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
We are seeking candidates who have:
• Expert knowledge of litigation support / electronic discovery software;
• Expert knowledge of imaging applications and data processing software;
• Expert knowledge in early case assessment platforms;
• Expert knowledge of electronic discovery third party vendors;
• Expert knowledge of forensic collection;
• Expert knowledge of early case analysis and data assessment;
• Expert knowledge of Federal Rules of Civil Procedure;
• Expert knowledge of European Union Data Privacy rules;
• Expert knowledge of Securities Exchange Commission, Department of Justice and other government agency electronic discovery requirements and protocols;
• Expert knowledge of electronic discovery developments such as Sedona Conference Principles;
• Juris Doctor and bar admission (required);
• At least 8 years of legal practice experience (required), top tier law firm (preferred);
• At least 8 years of electronic discovery experience;
• At least 8 years of advanced litigation support experience;
• At least 8 years of strategic or consulting experience;
