Description:

The Houston office of Winston & Strawn seeks a highly motivated attorney to join our corporate department as a staff attorney. The ideal candidate will have a desire to gain experience in corporate transactional matters with an emphasis on private equity and mergers and acquisitions.

Responsibilities performed may include:

Due diligence on acquisition targets
Drafting a variety of commercial agreements and closing documents
Assisting with closings
Drafting comprehensive due diligence memos

As a corporate staff attorney, you will be an integral member of the department, and will gain meaningful experience working with our attorneys and our Fortune 500 clients. This is not a partnership track position and has reduced billable hour expectations.

A JD from an ABA-accredited law school and Texas bar membership in good standing is required.

Desired qualifications include:

Solid academic credentials;
Undergraduate business degree, preferably in accounting or finance, or equivalent business experience;
Excellent writing skills;
Ability to work in a collaborative team environment;
Ability to provide excellent client service;
Strong organizational and analytical skills;
Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel;
Ability to work extended hours when necessary to meet deadlines
