Description
The Santa Barbara office of Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck has an immediate opening for an associate with 1-4 years of experience in public law, land use, and environmental and real estate law. The firm represents California cities and special districts as general counsel and special counsel. A candidate should have interest (and ideally experience) in all areas of public law, including public contracting, finance, land use/CEQA, agency operations, litigation, elections, code enforcement, and open government and ethics (conflicts of interest, Brown Act, Public Records Act). Public law practice will be a key focus of this associate position. The firm also has a thriving land use, environmental law, and real estate practice representing private clients in land use entitlement and other permitting proceedings, litigation related to those permit proceedings, and real estate related transactions, disputes, and litigation; this associate position will also involve work in these practice areas.
The ideal candidate will have an excellent academic record, strong writing, analytical, and public presentation skills, and the ability to work cooperatively with clients, agency officials, and the public.
