Horr Novak & Skipp, PA, a litigation defense firm located in Dadeland area has an immediate opening for a full-time Paralegal with significant experience in civil litigation, personal injury and trials. Familiarity with maritime law is a plus. Interested candidates must have civil litigation experience in order for their resumes to be considered.
Job Requirements:
The ideal candidate must be highly organized, detail oriented and dedicated. We are seeking a self-starter who can work independently under the guidance of the attorneys. The paralegal will be required to manage significant workloads with minimum supervision. Position requires the ability to efficiently and effectively carry out all assignments. A team-player is essential.
Some of the duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Assist the attorneys with case management from inception through trial preparation including hearings, depositions, and ultimately trial
Possess a working knowledge of both state and federal court procedures
Conduct factual investigation
Review, analyze and summarize medical records; prepare chronologies
Review and summarize depositions
Ability to effectively maintain communication with clients and vendors
Assist with drafting discovery requests and responses
Organize, analyze and draft legal documents
Manage, organize & index volume document production
Prepare witness and expert files for depositions
Prepare witness and exhibit lists as required
Effectively communicate status of projects to attorneys in a timely manner
Effectively organize and manage case load
Qualifications:
Qualified individuals must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. A minimum of 3-5 years of experience is required. The ability to work on time sensitive deadlines and exercise good judgment is essential. Candidates must possess strong organizational and time management skills. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft office (Word, Outlook) and Pacer is a must. A Bachelor’s degree and a strong understanding of medical terminology is preferred.
