Labor & Employment Staff Attorney

The Columbus, Ohio office of Squire Patton Boggs is currently seeking a highly motivated Staff Attorney to join our Labor and Employment practice.  Full-time or part-time/flexible schedule considered depending on candidate.
You will have the opportunity to support and work with partners and other experienced lawyers throughout our global footprint – many of whom are recognized as leaders in their fields.
Responsibilities:

Assisting with/handling litigation and pre-litigation matters including discovery, motion work, preparing EEOC position statements and related work.
Provide high level counsel to clients on federal and state employment law compliance issues.
Preparation of employment contracts and assistance with other project-based work.

 
Academic and Professional Qualifications:

Possess a JD from an accredited law school and a strong academic record.
Must be in good standing and admitted to practice in a US State Bar.  Admission to the Ohio State Bar is expected if not currently admitted.

 
Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

Minimum five years of demonstrable experience in employment law litigation and counseling, preferably in a law firm setting.
Strong organizational skills; good judgment; a record of responsiveness and attention to detail; initiative.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities and reasoning and research skills.
Flexibility, composure and the ability to prioritize and handle urgent tasks and requests simultaneously with a high level of competence and accuracy; the ability to remain composed and professional under stressful circumstances.
Commitment to professional ethics and client confidentiality; strong client service skills.
Ability to work without constant supervision, demonstrating initiative in seeking work and managing work load; active in formulating and recommending projects or alternative ways to complete projects that will benefit the client.
