Intellectual Property and Technology Associate

The Cleveland office of Squire Patton Boggs seeks a highly motivated Associate with at least three years of experience in patent prosecution to join our collaborative and congenial Intellectual Property & Technology Practice.Description
The position principally involves drafting and prosecuting patent applications for mechanical and electro-mechanical-related inventions and supporting technology-related intellectual property disputes by investigating claims and defenses, conducting legal research, and drafting briefs and other litigation documents. Responsibilities might also include drafting opinions and other advice letters and/or working on due diligence projects. Academic and Professional Qualifications

J.D. degree or equivalent
Admission to practice and in good standing in the Ohio State Bar (admitted or admission pending)
Candidates should possess an undergraduate degree or advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Admission to practice and in good standing in the PTO strongly preferred

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

At least three years of experience in patent preparation and prosecution
Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively with others on complex matters
Excellent communication skills (written and oral) and judgment are essential
Industry, court clerk, and/or PTO examiner experience desirable
