This is a full-time position but would consider part-time for the right candidate. This paralegal will provide professional legal support to attorneys through research, preparing and filing administrative and court documents, preparing fact summaries and timelines, and general administration of claims, lawsuits and litigation. This is a fast-paced, volume, high pressure and deadline intensive practice.
Requirements
4 year degree or paralegal certificate from an accredited paralegal program.
Minimum of 1-3years experience working in the area of Workers' Compensation law.
Familiar with Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation and Industrial Commission forms and procedures.
Previous experience with all aspects of claim preparation and administration activities.
Proficiency with Bureau of Workers' Compensation and Industrial Commission websites.
Basic ability to review and understand medical records.
Experience with preparing written medical summaries is preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Office skills are a must.
Excellent organizational skills.
Detail oriented.
Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to complete tasks assigned in a timely fashion.
Ability to prioritize tasks.
Job Duties:
Draft form documents, correspondence and routine administrative and court filings
Prepare medical chronologies.
Draft answers, deposition notices, and pretrial statements.
Perform online research including checking criminal record, driving record history and civil suit history.
Draft discovery requests and responses.
Prepare documents for production.
Docket deadlines for administrative claims and court appeals.
Request records from medical providers.
Schedule independent medical examinations.
Prepare letters to examining physicians.
Prepare releases and affidavits.
Prepare witness/exhibit lists and subpoenas.
Assist with preparation for contested hearings.
