Position: Claims Litigation Specialist
Location: Near Columbus, Ohio

As a Claims Litigation Specialist, you will help lead the Company’s continued growth and will provide expert guidance, coaching, mentoring and perspective.
Claims Litigation Specialist Responsibilities
Handle complex liability claims with minimal supervision.
Investigates, evaluates, and resolves claims of varying complexity and severity.
Research and formulate a basis on which coverage decisions will be made, conduct thorough investigations, evaluate damages and liability.
Drafts coverage position letters with minimal supervision.
Manages litigation; attends mediations, arbitrations, depositions, and trials as necessary.
Sets reserves within prescribed authority and submits written recommendations for reserves outside authority.
Negotiate settlements with insureds, claimants and attorneys.
Demonstrates excellent judgment in the evaluation and handling of claims.
Conveys complex information to all appropriate parties, maintaining a professional demeanor in all situations.
Complies with applicable company procedures and policies, statutes, regulations, and other legal requirements governing claims handling.
Responsibilities also include active file management, ensuring proper reserving, participation in training activities, and presentation of ligated claims to leadership team.
Serve as a mentor for others in the team or department.
Consistently exhibit a high level of customer service and adherence to department audit guidelines
Claims Litigation Specialist Skills
2-5 years of experience handling commercial general liability claims or other litigated claims of moderate complexity.
Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited law school, and admission to State Bar is preferred but not required.
Bodily injury claims experience and advanced coverage analysis experience is preferred.
Claims Litigation Specialist Capabilities
Detail-oriented and strong organizational skills.
Exceptional customer service skills.
Demonstrates strong written, verbal and effective listening skills.
Ability to build and maintain productive relationships with co-workers.
Experience working with Microsoft Office applications and electronic claim management applications.
Some travel is required.
