The Office of the County Counsel for the County of Alameda, located in downtown Oakland, is currently accepting applications for our Associate County Counsel position. The Office of the County Counsel is the civil legal office that provides legal services to the departments, agencies, boards, and commissions that fall under the authority of the County of Alameda Board of Supervisors. Alameda County is a significant government agency with over 9500 employees who provide vital services to the community through institutions such as the Social Services Agency, Health Care Services Agency, Probation Department and Community Development Agency, in addition to performing important governmental functions such as District Attorney, Public Defender, Sheriff, Tax Collector, Auditor and Registrar of Voters. This is just a partial list of the clients served by the Office of the County Counsel.
As an Associate County Counsel, you will be part of a dynamic office that supports a collegial atmosphere. While working in a fast-paced environment you will be exposed to a multitude of practice areas and disciplines in civil law and have opportunities for growth and personal development. Attorneys practice in an array of legal fields, includinggeneral government law, land use, civil rights, employment and labor law, tax, election law, and general litigation.
The successful applicant must have excellent writing and communication skills and be an active member of the California State Bar.
