New Jersey Law firm seeks a full-time Associate Attorney to join our growing practice. Katherine O’Brien Law is a “virtual” New Jersey Law Firm, meaning we do not have a brick-and-mortar office and all employees work remotely from home.  
 
The individual in this role would be responsible for managing criminal record expungement cases. The ideal candidate will have 2-4 years of experience in New Jersey expungement and/or criminal law.
 
In addition to managing expungement cases from beginning to end, the candidate would also be responsible for managing cases in a few other areas of law, including criminal motions (early termination of probation), and federal Global Entry, TWIC, and HAZMAT appeals and waivers.
 
This is an ideal position for a lawyer who wants to work from home with an occasional court appearance (approximately one per week or less on average) for a vibrant, busy practice. 
 
Duties will include the drafting of various pleadings, motions, briefs, and other court documents, managing cases from beginning to end, handling initial consultations via email and telephone, and responding to client inquiries via email and phone. Duties also include drafting legal blogs for the law firm website and conducting legal research on expungement and other relevant issues.  
 
Duties may also include the handling of various clerical and administrative tasks, such as sending out and/or following up on record requests, as necessary.

Requirements

EXCELLENT written communication skills and attention to detailare VITAL for this position.

Seeking candidates who are self-motivated, organized, and hardworking.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to work remotely, independently, and with minimal oversight.

Must also have strong legal research skills.

Must also be able to handle occasional (approximately one per week, sometimes more or less) court appearances throughout New Jersey.

Must be admitted to the New Jersey Bar and have New Jersey Court experience.

2 to 4 years of practice experience - New Jersey criminal law experience preferred.

Must be willing and able to attend expungement court hearings throughout the State of New Jersey.
