General Knowledge:
The Connecticut General Assembly's nonpartisan legal services office seeks a full-time staff attorney and full-time temporary attorneys for an exciting opportunity in a dynamic environment. Primary responsibilities areworking with legislators in drafting legislation and serving as legal counsel to one or more legislative committees. Additional responsibilities include providing related legislative legal services, indexing and codifying public acts for publication, and reviewing proposed state agency regulations.
For full-time staff attorneys, starting salary is $79,995, plus excellent health insurance, retirement and other fringe benefits. For full-time temporary attorneys, position term is January 2020 to May 2020, at per diem salary of $305.
Required Skills and Ability:
Requires superior writing and analytical skills, thoroughness, accuracy and attention to detail, strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, and initiative. Must perform excellent work under tight deadlines, and be willing and able to work very long hours during legislative sessions. Excellent academic record, law degree, and admission to Connecticutbar at time of hiring are required.
