Job Summary
 
 
The Assistant Legal Counsel provides legal services college-wide as assigned by the General Counsel and provides support to the Legal Affairs department. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College’s District Board of Trustees. 
 
 
Minimum Requirements

Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school and possess membership in good standing with the Florida Bar with a minimum of five (5) years of legal experience as a licensed attorney
All degrees must be from a regionally accredited institution
Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives, and policies and procedures
Knowledge of applicable Local, State and Federal laws and regulations
Knowledge of education law, public contracts rules and regulations, and various other areas of law including public records, technology, construction, employment, and real estate
Knowledge of contract development
Knowledge of Microsoft office software and specific computer programs related to legal research
Exceptional oral and written communication skills
Strong negotiation and legal drafting skills
Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail
