Ballard's Philadelphia office is seeking a full-time Benefit Plan Analyst with at least five years of experience to join our Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation practice. Our practice, which consists of 13 attorneys and Benefit Plan Analysts, has a national reputation and continues to grow. We are looking for a dynamic individual who is team-oriented and is seeking a cooperative work environment.
The ideal candidate will have experience drafting retirement plan documents and amendments for defined contribution, defined benefit and non-qualified plans; working with the various correction programs under the IRS Employee Plans Compliance Resolution System (EPCRS); preparing and submitting plan filings and requests to the IRS and DOL (e.g., determination letter filings, correction filings); drafting summary plan descriptions (SPDs) and other plan participant communications; interacting with clients; and researching discrete technical Internal Revenue Code and ERISA issues/questions. General knowledge of ERISA and the Internal Revenue Code regarding retirement plans is required.
Bachelor's degree and/or Paralegal certificate as well as Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Must be highly motivated with strong organizational skills (with emphasis on detail) and the ability to prioritize tasks. Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) certification is a plus but not required.
Our Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation practice advise on ERISA and federal and state benefits and compensation packages for clients ranging from publicly traded, Fortune 100 corporations to privately held and regional companies. We also have a significant presence in the tax-exempt and government sector, where we counsel health care systems, colleges and universities, churches, foundations, and governments. Our attorneys advise in three major areas: executive compensation, qualified retirement plans, and health and welfare benefit plans.
