Jyve is a Skills-as-a-Service platform that matches enterprise businesses’ in-store execution needs with the right skills at the right time. Operational in most of the U.S., Jyve offers distributors, brands, and retailers fast access to skilled Jyvers who are certified to handle tasks including merchandising, ordering, and brand ambassadorship.
The General Counsel will provide expert, strategic legal advice to management, establish internal governance policies, and manage the impact and risk of external factors. They will support a rapidly growing technology-enabled service provider company, and accordingly, will work heavily on business strategy, risk management, corporate partnerships, sales agreements, and managing external relationships.
What You'll Do:
Develop legal strategy and build a team to support Jyve’s with core business initiatives and growth
Advise on a wide variety of employment-related issues, including but not limited to contingent worker relationships, wage and hour law, claims, background checks, performance management, and internal investigations, working independently or with outside counsel
Prepare legal updates on emerging employment law issues, and provide guidance on employment law strategies
Establish compliance policies and procedures, and advise on matters to ensure legal obligations are met
Research, communicate, and provide counsel on regulatory issues that impact Jyve Operations, Communications, Public Policy, Customer Support, Finance, Marketing, and other teams
Work cross-functionally with various teams to prepare and establish operations in new markets
Draft, review, structure, and negotiate commercial agreements (e.g., services agreements, financing, NDAs, LOIs, etc.)
Assist with diligence and provide legal support in fundraising scenarios.
Requirements:
A J.D. with excellent academic credentials
Admission to bar and in good standing, and license to practice law in the state of California
A minimum of 15 years of combined corporate legal experience working at a top-tier law firm and in-house
Significant gig-economy industry experience
Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with strength in cultivating relationships, and resolving conflict with diplomacy
Skilled in multi-tasking and managing tight deadlines with competing priorities
Adept in navigating a fast-paced, rapidly evolving work environment, demonstrating flexibility and creativity in solving novel legal issues and complex transactions.
