Restructuring & Insolvency Associate

Squire Patton Boggs, a global law firm with 45 offices in 20 countries, is hiring associates in Cincinnati and Cleveland, Ohio, for our Restructuring and Insolvency practice.
The individual hired for this position will support and work directly with partners and other experienced lawyers throughout our global footprint handling the panoply of restructuring issues our clients face, and collaborating closely with our colleagues in other practice and industry groups. Responsibilities will encompass both litigation and transactional restructuring matters and will include legal research, drafting motions and pleadings, appearances, case management, negotiating and drafting transaction and out of court restructuring documents, discovery, court and client communications.

Academic and Professional Qualifications
•Possess a JD from an accredited law school and a strong academic record.•Must be in good standing and admitted to practice in a US State Bar. Admission to the State Bar of Ohio is expected if not currently admitted.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
•Minimum of two years’ meaningful restructuring litigation and transactional experience in a national firm handling work on complex restructurings, refinancings, sales and other dispositions, and US Chapter 9, 11 and Chapter 15 reorganizations.•Experience in restructuring and insolvency representing debtors, creditor’s committees, and secured and unsecured creditors in reorganizations and liquidations, including: legal research, written discovery, law and motion (discovery, dispositive and trial related motions, pleadings and briefs), court appearances, mediations, arbitration, depositions, client and witness interviews, trial preparation.•Experience/working knowledge of Bankruptcy Code, Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure, and Local Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure.•Familiarity with operation of Articles 2 and 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code and understanding of the strategic issues involved in a Chapter 11 bankruptcy case.•Strong organizational, reasoning and research skills; excellent written and verbal communication abilities; good judgment; attention to detail; initiative.•Stand-up experience in court.•Relevant Judicial clerkship experience, while not required, will be viewed favorably.•Flexibility, composure and the ability to prioritize and handle urgent tasks and requests simultaneously with a high level of competence and accuracy; the ability to remain composed and professional under stressful circumstances; commitment to professional ethics and client confidentiality; strong client service skills.•Ability to work without constant supervision, demonstrating initiative in seeking work and managing work load; active in formulating and recommending projects or alternative ways to complete projects that will benefit the case/client.•A background in business consulting, finance, economics or accounting is a plus.
