Sedgwick's San Francisco office is currently seeking a talented and experienced Paralegal for its Insurance Division. The ideal candidate should have a minimum of three to four years of related experience.
Responsibilities:
Prepare and review case files, discovery and trial documents in all phases of case management.
Review and outline depositions; indexing, summarizing, and coding documents.
Assist in the trial of cases which may include scheduling of witnesses and controlling and tracking exhibits.
Assist in filing pleadings with the court.
Establish, organize, and maintain attorney trial notebooks, witness notebooks, document indexes and lists.
Maintain databases, and court and deposition calendars.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of business English, legal terminology, spelling, and punctuation. Knowledge of the preparation and use of legal documents, administrative, and court procedures, relevant laws, law office practice/procedures and ethics.
Requires knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and other related software applications.
Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under time constraints.
Ability to proof read typed material for contextual, grammatical, typographical or spelling errors, and compose and/or edit correspondence.
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to establish and maintain confidentiality and effective working relationships with employers, other agencies, and the public.
Ability to incur overtime in order to perform the essential duties of the position; may require irregular hours.
Experience and Education:
At least three to four years of paralegal experience.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required. Paralegal certification preferred.
