McDermott Will & Emery is seeking a Privacy Counsel Staff Attorney with 3-5 years of experience in privacy and data security. The Privacy Counsel will assist attorneys and clients in identifying, evaluating and managing risks associated with their privacy and information security practices and those of their vendors, suppliers and other third parties. Applicants must also have experience with US-EU Safe Harbor Program, online and offline privacy assessments, and development of internal privacy and data protection policies and programs. The Privacy Counsel must be interested in working with the Firm's Privacy and Data Protection team members to provide advice on all aspects of client privacy and data protection matters which may include the following: U.S. state security data breach notification laws, along with remediation strategies, and other state data security requirements; Data-driven online and mobile products and services, including drafting and reviewing privacy policies; Cybersecurity risks and incidents; Vendor management privacy and data protection issues, including analysis of cloud offerings and contractual terms; Emerging trends on the U.S. federal law and enforcement as well as on the various state laws and enforcement; AND Online, mobile and other emerging technologies and related privacy and security issues. Previous experience at a medium or large law firm is preferred. Applicants must be admitted to the Massachusetts bar. The Privacy Counsel is a non-partnership track position.
