Our client, a multinational energy manufacturing & logistics company, is seeking to hire a Senior Counsel of Litigation for their North American operations. This role reports to the Deputy General Counsel – Litigation and will work with colleagues in a large law department of a publicly traded, Fortune 100 international energy company. Responsibilities include providing legal support for complex litigation docket including the development of matter strategies, plans, budgets, cost management, overseeing and advising outside counsel, and conducting risk analyses; working directly with claimants or their legal representatives in the resolution of disputes; recommending course of action to business unit leadership and legal management; and providing legal advice/counsel to staff and management and direction to procure the most optimal resolution through ADR and ensuring litigation costs are appropriate for the magnitude and risk of the matter. Candidates should have 7+ years of experience with complex litigation cases in a variety of areas, included but not limited to, commercial disputes, class action, contract disputes, real estate, and environmental and FERC litigation. Experience providing advice to clients in crisis management situations as well as insurance or dispute resolution experience is a plus. Ideal candidates will have superior mediation negotiation, advocacy and presentations skills, and mature judgement and discretion. Ability to manage and prioritize assignments, which may be broad in scope and complexity, and which involve collaborative work with employees in different departments or with varying degrees of seniority required. Strong hands-on experience and leadership in the discovery process desired. Client is offering highly competitive salary and bonus.
