These positions perform the following duties:Analyze complex legal and factual issues.Conduct extensive, well-reasoned legal researchPrepare pleadings including applications, answers and responsive pleadingsDraft proposed compromise and release agreements, stipulations with request for awards, and AME/PQME lettersPrepare trial briefs and appeals including petitions for reconsideration and writsTake depositions of applicants and cross-examinations of physiciansPrepare strategies for resolution with little or no supervisionPrepare for hearings including trial, cross-examination, trial exhibits and witnesses with little or no supervisionCommunicate with the Workers' Compensation Appeals Board, witnesses and opposing counsel and maintain a large caseload with little or no supervision. 3% Annual Across the Board Salary Increases in February 24/25Bi-annual step increases of 2.5% up to Top Step of Applicable Salary Range (Salary increases contingent upon Property Related Revenue and/or statewide Proposition 172 Sales Tax Collections performance.)New Top Step effective 7/15/23 for Deputy County Counsel IV (approximately 2.5% increase above the top step at time it is effective)Deputy County Counsel II($98,155 - $130,353 annually)Deputy County Counsel III($115,79 - $153,982 annually)Deputy County Counsel IV($133,432 - $189,924 annually)For more details, please review the announcement at www.sbcounty.gov/jobs.
