Lavin & Associates, P.C., a rapidly growing Morris County, New Jersey Law Firm seeks a full-time Litigation Associate Attorney with 3-5 years of experience in commercial litigation work.Essential Functions of the Job:Drafting and responding to initial pleadings and discovery;Drafting and arguing motions;Researching complex litigation issues;Taking and defending fact and expert witness depositions;Trial preparation including strategy discussions, discovery, records review, client interviews and witness preparation;Making court appearances and attending trial when necessary;Writing client reports, memorandums and letters; andManaging cases, meeting deadlines and prioritizing workload.Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:Ideal candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Teams and Adobe Acrobat;Knowledge of Macintosh OS operating system a plus;Electronic filing (CM/ECF);Ability to communicate with clients, opposing counsel, courts, agencies and the general public in a professional manner;Exhibit a desire to team with other support staff, administrators and attorneys;Ability to prioritize work and adjust priorities;Demonstrate the ability to undertake additional responsibilities and assist others when requested;Ability to think on your feet and respond strategically;Critical reasoning skills and good judgment;Superior research, writing and analytical skills; andFederal Court, and/or Civilian Board of Contract Appeals experience would benefit the applicant.Candidate must also:Be admitted to NJ Bar and in good standing;Possess a keen eye for detail;Have the ability to prioritize;Have exceptional capacity to multitask;Be self sufficient; andBe dedicated.The firm offers competitive salary and benefits package as well as a friendly working environment.Qualified applicants should submit resume and a current writing sample along with salary requirements.
