Knowledge & Innovation Attorney (IP)

We have an opening in our Knowledge and Innovation Delivery team for an attorney who will manage the knowledge assets and tools relevant to the Intellectual Property practice, which includes the Technology Transactions, Patent, and Trademark practice areas. This position is a trusted advisor with extensive knowledge of the practice’s legal services and personnel. The K&I Attorney will lead the capture, organization and sharing of knowledge throughout the practice and identify and implement solutions to enhance the delivery of legal services. This individual will work closely with practice leaders to establish priorities and collaborate with department personnel and other professional staff to deliver practical, effective solutions with an emphasis on ongoing engagement and sustainable adoption. This position can be based in any of our U.S. offices.Responsibilities Include:Coordinate with practice leaders to assess current and future needs and establish priorities that align with practice and firm strategic goalsDevelop relationships at all levels of the practice, as well as with department personnel, firm management and other professional staffCollaborate with professional staff and practice resources to evaluate and deploy innovative solutions to support the practice’s knowledge management and client service prioritiesImplement and maintain platform(s) to support practice-specific content collections, collaborating with Practice Management and practitioners to ensure materials are up-to-date, relevant and easily accessibleServe as a subject matter expert to connect people with the relevant information, resources, work product and/or colleagues in response to requests for informationContribute to training and professional development efforts to ensure practitioners are well equipped to leverage relevant knowledge assets, tools and processesLead the capture and validation of matter metadata and experience information, engaging with practitioners to collect relevant context and tacit knowledgeShare know-how, best practices and standards, as well as strategies for increasing engagement with and adoption of the firm’s knowledge assets and related toolsDesired Skills and Qualifications:Expert knowledge of the substantive areas of law, workflows and core needs of attorneys and related professionals in the assigned practice(s)Commitment to knowledge-sharing, efficiency and excellence in legal workAbility to build and maintain collaborative relationships and aptitude for building consensus and facilitating changeCustomer service orientation with superior communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to engage effectively with individuals at all levels of the organizationHigh degree of emotional intelligence and professionalism consistent with the firm’s performance culture and growth mindsetAbility to pivot gracefully between individual contributor and leadership roles, depending on the needs of a specific project or initiativePassion for solving complex business and practice challenges, exploring new technologies and delivering results to further the firm’s strategic goalsAbility to remain cool in a demanding environment; demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex projects with competing deadlines and prioritiesDemonstrated ability to think strategically to define business goals, set priorities and deliver results with minimal supervisionExpert level knowledge of MS Office, Teams and common law firm technologies such as document management, experience management, intranets and extranetsKnowledge of data architecture, governance and reporting concepts, including data analytics and visualization and collaboration platforms a plusAdvanced-level knowledge of technologies relevant to the Intellectual Property practice: Document and workflow automation; Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) platforms; contract analysis platforms; patent and trademark portfolio management; patent and trademark search platforms; patent and trademark analyticsReporting to the Senior Practice Knowledge and Innovation Manager, the ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience working within the assigned practice(s) as a practitioner, paralegal or similar professional role.
