Our client, a multinational energy manufacturing & logistics company, is seeking to hire a Senior Counsel of Environmental and Regulatory for their North American operations. This role reports to the DGC/Managing Counsel of Environmental and Regulatory and will work with colleagues in these areas of a large corporate law department in a publicly traded, international energy company. Responsibilities include providing legal counsel and support for day-to-day environmental, health and safety operations of Refining and Midstream facilities; participating in enforcement discussions with state and federal regulators with a goal of favorable resolution for the company; and managing Corporate Legal participation in Superfund Sites, as well as provide legal support of other remediation matters. Attorney will provide legal guidance in permitting and enforcement matters involving land use, air, and water quality and supply; in Hazardous Waste/Solid Waste permitting and Commercial Waste Management including RCRA, CERCLA, and EPCRA requirements; as well as on corporate-wide security issues and regulatory compliance with related state and federal requirements. Attorney will also participate in environmental due diligence activities and reviewing environmental liability provisions in transactional documents.Candidates should have 8 or more years of health, safety, environmental regulatory and operational experience. Experience providing advice to clients in crisis management situations is a plus. Ideal candidates will have superior negotiation, advocacy, and presentations skills, and mature judgement and discretion. Ability to manage and prioritize assignments, which may be broad in scope and complexity, and which involve collaborative work with employees in different departments or with varying degrees of seniority required.
