Our client, a multinational energy manufacturing & logistics company, is seeking to hire a Senior Counsel of Commercial & Marketing for their North American operations. This role reports to the DGC/Managing Counsel of Commercial & Marketing and will work with colleagues in these areas of a large corporate law department in a publicly traded, international energy company. Responsibilities include advising on a wide range of transactional, regulatory, and strategic matters; providing advice to clients in U.S. Marketing, and varying levels of management, on all aspects of the business which markets fuels through branded and unbranded channels and supplies jet fuels and aviation gas to private, commercial, and military aviation; and advising on applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to the Petroleum Marketing Practices Act. Candidates should have 8 or more years of commercial law experience in a top law firm or as in-house counsel at a company of similar size and scale. Knowledge of and experience drafting and advising on marketing contracts, including branded marketer agreements and master branded reseller agreements, as well as experience advising on the sale and purchase of petroleum products is preferred. Ideal candidates will have superior negotiation, advocacy, and presentations skills, and mature judgement and discretion. Ability to manage and prioritize assignments, which may be broad in scope and complexity, and which involve collaborative work with employees in different departments or with varying degrees of seniority required.
