Assistant Public Defender Attorney

The Oswego County Public Defender’s Office has immediate openings for Assistant Public Defenders responsible for the representation of indigent persons in criminal courts, with emphasis on criminal defense related matters. Full-time and part-time positions are available. Higher-level Senior Assistant Public Defender and First Assistant Public Defender positions are also available. Qualifications: Graduation from an American Bar Association accredited law school. Preference may be given to applicants with experience in the practice of criminal law and/or in Family Court. Special Requirement: NYS License to practice law. Candidate must be a resident of Oswego County at time of appointment; subject to change pending legislation. Salary: Salary negotiable to be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Competitive benefit package to include: health insurance, life insurance, and NYS retirement.
