Attorney (Employment Law)

The Office of the Legal Adviser of the Department of State seeks an attorney with at least 5 years of relevant experience to handle issues related to employment law. Salary: GS Level 14-15 ($132,368 - $183,500, subject to cost of living increases in January 2024), commensurate with experience. Applicant must be a U.S. citizen, have a J.D. degree, and be a member in good standing of a state bar. Applicants should have significant litigation experience in employment law, preferably Federal sector employment law. The position requires litigating employment law cases in federal courts in conjunction with DOJ, and in a number of administrative forums, including the Equal Opportunity Commission (EEOC), the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB), and neutral arbitrators. Applicants should be familiar with Title VII of the Civil Rights Act and the Rehabilitation Act, and should have experience advising Human Resources offices and other management officials. Applicants must have an outstanding record of academic and professional achievement, and possess excellent analytical, writing, organizational, and interpersonal communications skills, suitable for working successfully with policy-makers and senior-level officials. The successful applicant will be able to work independently and handle a wide variety of assignments with short, time-critical deadlines.
