The Firm also has a litigation department, with experience in general business litigation, partner/shareholder disputes, employment/labor issues, tax disputes, and various other forms of controversy. The position is responsible for assisting both the Managing Principal (a certified tax specialist), the Head of Business Services, and other members of the Firm with transactional business matters, including business formations, mergers and acquisitions, corporate governance, and drafting, review, and analysis of business agreements and contracts. The position also comes with an expectation of developing and managing the attorney’s own practice, and an attorney with an existing practice will be weighted favorably. The candidate should be able to independently analyze and execute assignments and must possess substantial attention to detail. Experience and/or desire to practice in the areas of tax planning and tax controversy are strongly preferred. About the Firm: We are a ten-attorney law firm specializing in Trusts and Estate Planning; Trust Administration; General Business Law, Formations, Mergers, Acquisitions; Business Succession; Tax Law; International Law; Intellectual Property Law; Real Estate Law; Employment Law; Probate, Trust and Fiduciary Litigation; and General Business Litigation. We have three locations: Sacramento, Roseville, and San Francisco. The position would be based out of the Sacramento office which is located at 400 Capitol Mall in the Wells Fargo Building, on the 18th Floor. Requirements of Position: I. Member of the California Bar in good standing with at least seven (7) years of legal experience and at least five (5) years of transactional business, corporate, and/or tax matters. LLM or demonstrable experience in Tax highly desired. II. Familiarity with business formations, corporate governance issues, contract review and drafting, and the like required. III. Experience in Contract and Business Litigation is highly desired. IV. Must be a highly motivated, professional team player with the desire to develop and grow the department, including experience in marketing and working with channel partners. IV. Comfort and competency with computers. Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook mandatory. Experience with Lexis document and practice management programs (Leap, Time Matters, Worldox, etc), Candidate must be able to handle a heavily computerized environment and be comfortable working with: word processing programs; e-mail programs; case and file management software; and office-wide calendaring and coordination software
