The New Jersey Attorney General's Office, Division of Gaming Enforcement, is looking for an Attorney for its Casino Licensing Bureau – Records & ID Bureau. This position is located in either Trenton, NJ or Atlantic City, NJ, location preference must be submitted with resume. The annual salary for this position ranges from $87,578.62 to $143,971.92. ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The Attorney General has broad oversight of the state’s legal and law enforcement matters. As the head of the Department of Law & Public Safety, the Attorney General supervises a wide range of Divisions, Offices, and Commissions, consisting of over 2,800 sworn law enforcement officers, 600 attorneys, and thousands of other public servants. ABOUT THE DIVISION OF GAMING ENFORCEMENT (DGE): The Division of Gaming Enforcement was established under the Casino Control Act to ensure the integrity of the casino gaming industry in the State of New Jersey. Its mission is to protect the public interest by maintaining a legitimate and viable industry, free from the influences of organized crime, and assuring the honesty, good character and integrity of casino owners, operators, employees and vendors. The Division performs this mission through enforcement of the Casino Control Act and the regulations promulgated there under which mandate a strictly regulated and economically sound industry. Oversight by the Division includes Investigations, inspections. The Deputy Attorney represents the Division of Gaming Enforcement as prescribed by applicable statues. ABOUT THE BUREAU: The Casino Licensing Bureau assures that each applicant for, and holder of, a casino license and every affiliated company, officer, director, principal employee, financial backer and investor meets the standards of financial responsibility, honesty, integrity and good character as mandated by the Casino Control Act. The Bureau accomplishes this mission by investigating and monitoring business transactions of the applicant or licensee and related companies; conducting investigations of each officer, director, principal employee, financial backer or significant investor and examining the background of the casino company and its affiliated entities. The Bureau’s legal unit reports to the Casino Control Commission initially on a casino applicant regarding the results of its investigation and as mandated, thereafter, in conjunction with each casino licensee’s renewal. In addition, the legal unit reports to and litigates before the Commission violations of the Act or regulations whenever necessary. ABOUT THE POSITION: Under direction of a Deputy Attorney General 1 or 2, or other supervisory attorney, represents the Division of Gaming Enforcement (DGE) as prescribed by applicable statutes Conducts work related to the investigation of Casino operations matters, prosecution of regulatory violations, licensing of service industry entities and individuals.As the Attorney General’s representative, participates in legal and related activities involving regulatory mattersHandles projectsConducts legal researchDoes other related work as required REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from an accredited law school with a Juris Doctor. Admission to practice as an attorney-at-law in the State of New Jersey required.Two (2) or three (3) years of experience as a practicing attorney. OTHER KEY FACTORS: Statewide travel required for work responsibilities.
