The New Jersey Judiciary is seeking an experienced attorney with strong legal writing, analytical and communication skills to join the Office of Professional and Governmental Services located in Trenton, NJ. Under the direction of Court Executives, the selected candidate will review and monitor legislation for its impact on the Judiciary; conduct legal research and write memoranda; support the legislative and budgetary efforts of the Administrative Office of the Courts. Remote Work: The Judiciary currently offers a hybrid work schedule and this position may for qualify for up to 2 days of work outside of Judiciary buildings. To participate in this program, you will be required to have high speed home internet access. Example of Duties: * Reviewing, analyzing and monitoring legislation pertinent to the Judiciary as introduced and throughout the entire legislative process * Conducting legal research and analysis on a variety of issues including, but not limited to, legislative and policy matters * Drafting and preparing memoranda, reports, and correspondence related to legislative and budgetary activities impacting the Judiciary * Consulting and communicating with Judiciary staff on potential issues or commentary regarding pending or proposed legislation * Monitoring, reviewing, and initiating draft responses to requests for fiscal and related information pertaining to pending or proposed legislation * Assisting managers as needed to prepare comments, testimony, or other correspondence concerning legislation * Performing other related duties as assigned to accommodate the workload and organizational needs of the Office of Professional and Governmental Services Specific knowledge of State legislative practices and procedures is preferred. Salary range is $73,838.98 - $109,322.18. For newly hired individuals, the starting salary will normally be at the minimum of the salary range. Job Requirements: Graduation from an American Bar Association-approved law school and one year of experience in legal research and analyzing and evaluating legal documents, rules, regulations and/or legislation. Substitution: One year of experience as a Judicial Law Clerk may be substituted for one year of the required experience. License: Attorney-at-Law with a plenary license in the State of New Jersey and having Supreme Court Good Standing Status of Active. Residency Law: Pursuant to N.J.S.A. 52:14-7 (L. 2011, Chapter 70), also known as the “New Jersey First Act,” all persons newly hired by the Judiciary must establish, and then maintain, principal residence in the State of New Jersey. Authorization to Work: US citizenship is not required. Selected candidate must be authorized to work in the US according to Department of Homeland Security, US Citizenship and Immigration Services regulations.
