ROLE DESCRIPTION Allyn & Fortuna (“A&F”) seeks a growth oriented, collaborative Associate with a learning mindset. The position offers a great work environment and variety of work in the practice areas of regulatory/administrative law and commercial litigation. The Associate works closely with the full A&F team to develop skills needed to work with clients independently as soon as possible. Associate responsibilities include appearing in court and before City and State regulatory agencies, legal research, drafting briefs and other litigation documents, managing individual cases, working with the other attorneys to develop litigation strategy, and communicating directly with the firm’s clients. The position is full time and in person in our offices in midtown New York City. CORE RESPONSIBILITIES Specific duties include but are not limited to: Representing clients in court and before City and State regulatory agencies and tribunals. Conducting legal research and drafting memoranda on specific legal issues. Drafting correspondence, pleadings, discovery demands and responses, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents. Taking and defending depositions. Communicating directly with opposing counsel and clients regarding the matters being handled. Developing legal strategies. Working with clients to obtain information and documentation necessary for effective handling of the matter. Soliciting and being receptive to honest, responsible, and helpful feedback from co-workers. Willingness to integrate feedback and improve performance based on learnings. Collaborating with colleagues to ensure optimal refinement and development of work product. Maintaining an unwavering focus on client end goals for immediate matters, understanding implications for their long-term goals. Tracking and meeting case deadlines. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS New York Bar Admission is required. New Jersey Bar Admission a plus. 1-3 years of relevant experience. Collaborative and adaptive mindset; comfort with learning-focused processes. Comfortable working in an in-person environment full time. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities/projects, and meet deadlines. Strong legal research and writing skills with experience drafting clear and compelling legal and non-legal content. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with staff at all organizational levels and to interact professionally with colleagues and clients in person, via telephone, and through email communication.
