The global law firm of K&L Gates seeks to hire an Associate to specialize in corporate law and transactions primarily involving Latin American countries at their dynamic Dallas practice.

The ideal candidate will be able to perform in-depth legal research in both U.S. and Latin American law sources utilizing conventional printed sources and automated computer sources; interpret U.S. and foreign laws, rulings, and regulations for individuals and businesses; interact and negotiate with governmental agencies in the U.S. and Latin America; negotiate various transactions involving Latin America on behalf of clients; draft agreements and other types of business and personal documents in English and Spanish; translate and analyze Spanish legal documents for other attorneys in the Latin American practice group; consult with colleagues to establish and verify appropriate course of action; recommend specific courses of legal action in business and personal matters based on analysis of U.S. and Latin American legal sources and analysis of Latin American business practices and culture.


We require that the successful candidate possess a Juris Doctorate from a top fifty (50) U.S. News and World Report rated U.S. law school and have graduated in the top twenty (20) percent of his or her law school class. Must be admitted or eligible to be admitted to practice law in Texas. Must be fluent in the Spanish language and have experience translating Spanish legal documents. Must have extensive familiarity and experience with Latin American culture. Five (5) percent domestic and international travel including to Latin American countries, required. Employment subject to normal testing/screening.
