Harris Beach PLLC/Uniondale, NY

Harris Beach seeks an associate to assist in representing institutional and private lenders in all aspects of commercial real estate finance including construction and permanent loans, loan workouts, mortgage foreclosures and lender liability litigation. This position also requires assisting with the buying and selling of commercial real estate and representing buyers and sellers of distressed mortgage debt, including debt subject to existing foreclosure proceedings.

Responsibilities:

Draft and finalize documents for real estate closings, bankruptcy and foreclosure proceedings
Coordinate and review title work, UCC and lien searches, surveys, site plans and leases
Supervise pre and post-closing matters, including preparation of documents for recording / filing
Communicate with clients, banks, attorneys and additional parties involved with the closing and filings of all transactions
Draft and finalize pleadings and responses to discovery demands
Cite-check briefs, assemble motions and exhibits for service
Monitor case deadlines and assist with court appearances

Qualifications:

Minimum 3-4 years legal experience in commercial foreclosure litigation required
Must have experience with both state and federal courts
Must demonstrate a commitment to exceptional client service
Must be admitted in New York; admission in New Jersey a plus
Must have excellent research and writing skills
Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing
Must be able to function effectively in a fast-paced, team oriented environment
Some overnight travel may be required
Military experience a plus
