Associate Attorney-Intellectual Property at Jones Day (New York, NY)

Job duties:

Prepare and prosecute pharmaceutical and biotechnological patent applications before the US Patent & Trademark Office (the "USPTO"); Oversee patent prosecution in foreign jurisdictions; Participate in appeals and post-grant proceedings in the USPTO; Advise clients on a range of pharmaceutical and biotechnological patent issues, including patentability, patent term adjustment, validity, life cycle management, infringement, and freedom-to-operate; Conduct patent landscape analyses on a wide range of pharmaceutical and biotechnological subject matter; Participate in due diligence assessments of pharmaceutical and biotechnological patent portfolios, products, and companies; Conduct legal research and draft legal memoranda; and Utilize in-depth working knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry and biotechnology to translate complex scientific and legal issues into laymen's language for communication to other attorneys, patent examiners and administrative judges.

Requirements:

Must be licensed to practice law in New York. Must have a JD and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology or foreign equivalent.
